The United Kingdom Flag Emoji 🇬🇧 shows the national flag of the United Kingdom, also called the Union Jack.
The flag combines elements from three different national flags: for England, the red cross of St George for Scotland, St Andrew's white saltire and for Ireland, the red saltire of St Patrick.
It symbolizes the union of England, Scotland and Ireland. First adopted in 1606 and modified several times, the current design of the flag dates from 1801. In international politics, culture and sport the Union Jack is often used as the signifier of the United Kingdom.
