The flag consists of a red background with a white five petal Bauhinia flower in the middle. The red e part is for stating that this is part of the nation the Peopleβs Republic of China and the five-petal flower at the bottom right symbolizing Hong Kong and its prospects.
The petals are given the look as to symbolically represent the complementarity of Hong Kong and China.
The flag was created by Henry Tang Ying-yen, a Hong Kong official and the flag was raised on July 1, 1997 immediately after British handed over the Hong Kong to China.
This emoji is widely used to show Hong Kongβs tradition, identity and national pride, especially shown during National Day and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region anniversary.
